The most common issue is that you're in Safe Mode

You can check this, by going into Options - Display - Custom - Display Mode

Try changing the display mode to one of the other.

Recommended to use DirectX or OpenGL. Also try to changing between Fixed and Resizeable screen (Has worked for some players).

If you're unable to change, log out and try in the menu. (Top right corner - Custom)

If that still doesn't work then you have a couple of options;

- Reload the Client and when it's still checking/fetching for updates - Press the 'S' key on your keyboard a couple of times to force a mode change, then change the graphics mode in the login screen;

- Resetting the cache folder & all related 'Velheim' files in your User Folder

(Disclaimer you may have more folders/files depending on your version)

- Getting rid of all your existing java versions and getting the 1.8.x 64 bit Java

How to uninstall current Java

Spoiler

You can uninstall java by going into Control Panel.

You can find Control panel in system

or Searching "Control Panel"

into the search bar.

(In your native language)

Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features

(If you for whatever reason have more than one, uninstall them all)

Alternative solution: Make sure that majority of the cache has been downloaded

Let start with opening the console. You open the console by press on the ~ sign.
It may be different depending on your keyboard design.
But it's the key above Tab, below Escape and next to the 1.

Type in displayfps and press enter.

Now further information will be showed next to the minimap. You can minimize the console by clicking on the same key. To remove it just type displayfps again in the console.

  • Cache: Shows how many percentage of the cache you have downloaded. If it's below ~ 90%, then you may experience issues. You have to wait until more of the cache has been downloaded from the server.
