  1. As a player of FFXIV for many years, I can confirm the mass exodus from WoW is causing havok there. As far as for Velheim, I do think this and a lot of Covid restrictions being lifted is behind some of the drop for sure. One suggestion for this is, considering the two types of RS player in my experience, maybe have some kind of special, promotion, advert and event around the school holidays? I'm not suggesting everyone who plays are kids, but some are and another big lot are parents so there's two opportunities there. Being a pretty international community, you could borrow a lot of holidays from all over the world. I'm in no way suggesting a huge event for every one, but I dunno, simple things like best costume contest on the forum, mini holiday themed quizzes, stuff that gets people involved in both the game and on the forum. Keep them thinking about Velheim even when they're not playing! Prizes could be as simple as one or two bonds, a chunk of gp or some resources, nothing that's going to be economy breaking but some good QoL stuff or stuff that will sell/trade easily.
  2. I'm sitting in the salon waiting to get my hair cut so thought I'd add my 2p to this while I'm here, will probably edit when I get home to add more. First and foremost, @Sandstorm I applaud you on creating and curating this server, it's an often thankless task, I know from experience (have dev/run my own server and been admin of a couple of big ones in another game) People complaining 24/7 can really get you down. Please, please don't let it make you think Velheim is dead, it's still up there in the top lists and you've asked earlier than later for help from a community that is (mostly) full of decent people with a love for your version of this game. We can climb back up! I'd like to echo what some people have said, I'll tl;dr the points I agree with: 1.Bosses/pvm is too easy at endgame. 2. Said endgame is viewed as "easy" to get to 3. There's little in between being a poor noobie and afk bossing all day 4. Combat is very 2D, meaning it's get 2h or go home 5. Adding other little events between the big flagship ones like KotS, Beach and 3x is a great idea, liking a lot of the suggestions here. 6. Polls are a great idea and I agree with only poll between options you're willing to do. Other things that I don't agree with or haven't been said already: 1. Please for the love of Guthix don't add gambling! As an easy fix, it works in the short term, but it's faddy and it will bring in mostly people who make throwaway accounts to see if they can gamble/cheat/cheese a ton of gp from people. If they do, they'll stay, but if they don't, they'll leave again and short term players don't build a good playerbase. That in turn, doesn't foster a good community that will stay and donate because they enjoy the server. 2. For events, you might want to consider making one of your current staff or hiring another person to be an Events Manager. Their role would be to formulate and run little community events regularly between the big ones. Of course all of them would be approved by you for content and rewards, but it would take some stress off of you. 3. Skilling content is a little bit bland. This is quite personal for me as I'm not a bosser yet. There's some good suggestions in this thread and I'd like to add maybe make the skilling pets give a small boost, 1-3% to the corresponding skill when they're summoned. That would give people a little more incentive to get them and to summon them instead of having an army of Mortys and boss pets at skilling locations. 4. More interaction on the forum, maybe some forum based events, art contests, themed costume contests, monthly quizzes, stuff that gets people involved in the community as a whole rather than just the game. They don't have to have big prizes, because they're supposed to be pretty easy, but little prizes that are seen as reachable by the everyday player are really attractive. Like the constructive feedback posts, there's actually a ton of people here who are willing to help out, get involved and not just complain! That's so rare in a PS community!
  3. Based on my own experience as a skiller on a classic account rather than combat focused, thought I'd throw in my 2pence since it's probably a different outlook from most! 1 = Stamina Stallion - same reasons as everyone else, really, it's so annoying running out of stamina. 2 = Lucky Seven - grab it early and it'll more than pay for itself adding a little bit of luck to everything you do 3 =Dungeon Demon - similar reason, makes dung so much faster and so easier to stomach, can even spend some time skilling in there 4 = Coin Collector - Who doesn't love more gp and auto pick up? 5 = Prayer Party - Saves on pots you gotta carry and trips to recharge 6 = Preslaysion OR Investigator - depending on if you want to level combat or get a good stash of clues going while skilling 7 = Master Inventor - Invention is so damn slow, it's really worth it to speed up and get more parts.
  4. Aw yeah, time for some sunburn!
  5. Staff Members I'm just going to preface this by saying that I am still really a new player, getting used to the game as this is my first rsps and I haven't played rs3 in a good few years properly. Some things I haven't got to experience yet regarding staff, but I'll mention those in each. Overall, doubt it's going to be super detailed, but I'm just here to give my 2 cents. @Sandstorm Haven't had much reason to speak with Sand personally as I've not really had any problems with my account, so I guess that's a good thing! Positives: Very hard working, from my experience being a Lead Game Master and running my own game server (not RS) for a while, I know there's a shit ton of work goes into getting these things up and then usually even more work keeping them up and running as soon as possible. Has dealt with the DDoS (from where I'm standing) as well as possible, tried multiple things and it seems like he's properly looking into where the backdoors are and how to close them. Takes suggestions. That, in itself, is a rare and wonderful thing on P Servers in general. While not all of them are implemented, good reasons are usually given as to why not. Also included in this is not implementing game breaking suggestions, things to make life stupidly easy, etc. Responds to players - he's not got the god-complex of some owners that refuse to talk to your everyday player and that's a refreshing change. Negatives: Can be a little bit too happy with the Sarcasm Cannon™ but nine times out of ten, it's warranted with dumb people whining at him when he's busy. @Arcadiez Overall not too much to say as I've not had that much contact. Positives: Seems helpful enough. Negatives: Kind of forgettable. (Sorry bud, we just don't seem to be around at the same times of day.) @Dynasty Not had much in the way of talking to them personally, but from what I've seen in FC. Positives: Helpful, always willing to answer questions from new or old players. Down for a laugh and doesn't take things too seriously all the time Willing to enforce rules when the need arises Negatives: Can be a little elitist and not so noob-friendly. Likes feet way too much. @Nhs If I was forced to pick a personal favourite admin, it would have to be Nhs. ♥ Positives: Professional without being stuck up at all. Always ready to help in FC and answer questions Took my report of hate speech seriously and got back to me with how the player responsible had been dealt with, which is so, so pleasant and heart-warming for me. Hasn't let the promo go to their head. Negatives: Increases chance of catching Covid. Hogs a ton of RNG. @Yggdrasil Sort of accidentally fallen into rankings but would be my second favourite. Positives: Very approachable and kind Happy to help answer all sorts of questions Pretty chatty with people in FC, feels like one of us, very approachable. Negatives: Can be a little... wooden ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) @Hackedbutnp (Gimbutnp) Only based on a little I've seen in FC, haven't spoken personally. Positives: Knows their shit Answers most things correctly Negatives: Can be a little elitist A little curt and sometimes rude @Iron Tyrone Again, haven't really chatted personally but some in FC. Positives: Definitely very knowledgeable about the game Very willing to help Fast and accurate in his answers Negatives: Is an ironman >.> @Kim Chatted a little in FC, not much outside. Positives: Possibly the most positive among the whole staff Always fast and accurate in answers Willing to help old and new alike Gives new players a warm welcome Knows the Classic grind is real Negatives: Holds a lot of hatred for Bork. Server Changes I liked: Prayer icon and description changes. - The interface looks so much better and is less confusing than before. RS3 hitsplats - childish I know, but it feels more epic Rare drop SoF - delicious Eating while stunned - was actually a big wtf when I found I could do it. Good to see fixes of things that are too OP. Changes I disliked: Ninja taking away the no bowstring on the Master Fletcher perk because it really sped up levelling, but I see why too. Changes I'd like to see: Personally I only have small, literally inconsequential things at the moment: Looms in Burthorpe don't work. Milk churn in Falador farm doesn't work. Can't wear Milestone capes without having Invention, even for level milestones before Invention can be unlocked (10-70) One big QoL: Please make it a no burn zone in DZ like Home and stop people spamming fires. -.-
