Starting Requirements: Level 17 Farming

Location: Manor Farm, North of Ardougne (Farming TP Tab -> Manor Farm)

To start once you have the required farming level talk to granny potterington for the ingame tutorial. This covers the basics of Feeding/Breeding/Selling so I won't cover those, more the traits and animals.

  • Uniques:
    • Dragons
      • Poison Breath: Need all three breaths between parents to have a chance for a royal dragon (shiny) offspring. (Slot 1,2,3)
      • Shock Breath: Need all three breaths between parents to have a chance for a royal dragon (shiny) offspring. (Slot 1,2,3)
      • Ice Breath: Need all three breaths between parents to have a chance for a royal dragon (shiny) offspring. (Slot 1,2,3)
    • Chinchompas (Animal is lost if it explodes)
      • Unstable: Chance to explode, granting XP and Materials as if the Chinchompa was Elder. (Slot 1,2,3)
      • Nuclear: Higher Chance to explode, granting XP and Materials as if the Chinchompa was Elder. (Slot 1,2,3)

Now that you can see the traits, lets cover Good Breeding and Strong Genes:

Animals have "Tiers" which you can easily check using the collection log. Some have unique mechanics:

  • Common Brown Rabbits will only ever breed other common brown rabbits.
  • Gloomshroom Zygomytes Cannot make daemoncaps.
  • Chinchompas only create chins the same breed of parents. (Crystal+Crimson can only make crimson or crystal none of the others)
  • Dragons go in hide type. Green->Blue->Red->Black(Royal) Blue+Red Dragon will NEVER produce a green dragon.
  • Cows have unique traits of Chocolate/Vanilla/Strawberry Touches that can increase the chance of those flavors of cow, but otherwise can breed into them always.
  • Sheep and Spiders are supposed to be seasonal, so I can only assume that the breeding is random on here since we don't have seasons.

Here is the breeding table from the wiki with the totem times removed as we don't have those (yet?) all of these times are 25% shorter here:

Breeding is more likely if the happiness and health is 100%, reducing in chance till 0%.

For Example the dragons are 750 minutes here, not 1000. If an animal is in a breeding pen, it has bad luck mitigation and will succeed on the fifth try. Other pens do not have the bad luck mitigation.

Making Beans/Bank:

There are many animals that make reasonable beans, my recommendations are to focus on these animals for beans:

Dragons: Adolescent Dragons Sell for 2000 Beans each, the eggs are easily obtainable from QBD/KBD or and Chromatic Dragon (Requires 92 Farming)

Jadinkos: Adolescent Jadinkos Sell for 684 beans each, are easily obtained by hunting Jadinkos around Anachronia. (Requires 76 Farming and 70-81 Hunter depending on type)

Dinos in General: Adolescent Dinos sell for 1935-3600 Beans, have a 50% chance replacing a Jadinko, can also be found hunting Grenwalls or Butterflies around Anachronia. (Requires up to 118 Farming, 77 hunter for grenwalls, 95 hunter, 90 agility for black warlocks)

Of course you can also breed and sell offspring once you get a good breeding pair, but the next step is the animals you'll want for their produce firstly and then beans secondly (Selling at Elder):

Rexes: You'll want to find some Rexes of some kind, whether its Corbicula, Pavosaur, or Bagrada (each type can only breed with itself). These will give bottled dinosaur roars, which are used to make Vulnerability Bombs. They eat exclusively Meat.

Venomous Dinosaur: You will want specifically Venomous Dinosaurs (Gotten from the Level Slayer mob of the same name) for thier Poison Slime (Frogs drop it too, but require insects to feed and are a lot less generous. 15 slime vs 60). This slime is used in making Weapon Poison +++ They eat exclusively Meat.

Spiders: You will want any spider for their fangs. These are gotten by doing Araxxor, or killing various spiders, such as the corpse spiders in lumby catacombs, or stronghold. You will most likely have to get lucky with breeding to get high tier spiders which give more fangs. Spider Fangs are used in Super Invention Potions. Spiders other than Spirit/Night also give Venom Sacs which can make Extreme Runecrafting Potions. Spiders will eat Meat or Seeds.

Appoterrasaur: You will want these animals for their Beak Snot. Arcane, Spicati, or Oculi (each type can only breed with itself). The beak snot is used in making powerburst of sorcery, which will DOUBLE your runes per essence for 10s while runecrafting. They eat exclusively Meat.

Yaks: You will need Yaks for Milk for making Super Runecrafting Potions for use in Powerburst of sorcery. These are gotten from killing Yaks at the Yak teleport (Neitiznot). Yaks will eat flowers, fruits or vegetables. (Woad Leaves are an easy food source)

Zygomytes: You need these for Extreme Invention Potions. They give mycelial webbing which is the ingredient that turns Super into Extreme. Zygomytes are gotten by harvesting morchella/bittercap mushrooms. They also give fruit for Super Cooking and Super Divination Potions. As well as mort myre fungi, which can be used to feed them. They eat Mushrooms.

Chinchompas: These little guys are used for Invention Potions. They give chinchompa residue which is the secondary. They are gotten from ANY Chinchompa catching and it gives the same residue each, this is the one time Shiny is not good as they give straight money instead of residue. Be careful of the unstable and nuclear traits, as both can speed up harvesting at the cost of the animal. These eat ANYTHING.

Sheep: Bought from the farmers market. You WILL need to breed these untill you get one of the Seasonal Varieties (Spingsheared, Summerdown, Fallfaced, Winterwold, or Golden). The 'seasonal' wool is used to make basic Runecrafting potions. Sheep will eat Flowers, Fruits or Vegetables. (Woad Leaves are an easy food source)

Adam Antite:

After unlocking the glorious man for 5000 beans he will then, for the low low cost of 100 beans, go out and find a random manor farm animal. (No dinos) This can be a huge boon for the rarer or more troublesome animals. I managed to get my Zygomytes and my sheep through him. If he gives you a valuable creature it can easily pay off the 100 beans for more creatures!

This is all I could think of right now, feel free to suggest additions or give constructive feedback. I will add to this guide as I see more questions asked.
