What Is the Wilderness?

The Wilderness is a large and dangerous Player-versus-Player (PVP) area. Dying here may cause a player to lose all of their items. This guide aims to help players to safely navigate their way around the dangers of the Wilderness.

While in the Wilderness, coins cannot be put in the money pouch, disassembly is disabled, and dropped items are instantly available to be picked up by anyone, instead of having the regular waiting period.

Where Is the Wilderness?

The Wilderness is located north east of Gielinor on the map displayed in grey, and is most commonly known to be north of Edgeville. Although Daemonheim and Dragonkin Laboratory (ED2) are not in the Wilderness, they do have exits that lead you into there.

The Wilderness Wall

The Wilderness wall (formerly Wilderness ditch) is a long, low wall that separates the Wilderness from the rest of Gielinor. The player must jump over the wall to get into or out of the Wilderness.

After choosing to cross the Wilderness wall, you will be prompted the following warning:

By clicking on the [Enter Wilderness] button, you take on the risk of dying and losing any items find or take with you into the Wilderness.

Wilderness Levels and Attack Range

The Wilderness level is displayed in the top right corner of your screen. The level represents the potential combat level difference between players that can engage in combat.

For example, a Wilderness level of 1 means the player can attack and be attacked by players within one combat level of their own.

A Wilderness level of 10 means a level 100 combat player can attack and be attacked by players ranging from combat levels of 90 ->110.

Note that carrying a Demonic skull, Cursed energy, Cursed memories or Warband supplies allows the player to be attacked by any level player.

Combat Zones

Single Combat

  • Also known as "singles" or "1v1", restricts players so that they may only fight one target at a time. However, if a player stops attacking their opponent for a certain amount of time (the amount of time it takes to eat three pieces of food), it is possible for other players to attack one or both fighters. This is also known as "PJ" (player jacking), and considered dishonorable in PKing.

Multi Combat

  • Multi combat areas are identified upon entering by two crossed swords appearing in the corner of the screen. (Multicombat.png)  The zones will also have markers made out of rocks, flags and banners near the edges. Multi combat areas are very dangerous, as multiple players can attack you at any given time.
  • These areas are beneficial to groups of players, as it allows them to pile a player and greatly decrease the opponent's chance of escape, or allows a group of lower level players to fight a higher level player at the same time. Multi combat zones are very common on the east side of the Wilderness, while there are sparse groups of multi combat zones on the west side.

Why Enter the Wilderness?

The Wilderness has some of the best XP training methods available with the use of demonic skull and brawling gloves.

  • Having a demonic skull equipped increase Slayer, Farming, Hunter and Divination experience gained by 20%, as well as increasing the experience reward for skilling in the abyss and granting a level scaling experience modifier for the Wilderness Agility Course.
  • Brawling gloves grant up to 300% more experience while being worn in the Wilderness (up from the regular 50%). The deeper the player is in the Wilderness, the more bonus experience is gained with them.

Profitable NPCs such as: RevenantsChaos Elemental and WildyWyrm.

Wilderness slayer: Mandrith. (Located at Ctrl+S, or ;;home and run west to the slayer masters)

Wilderness coordinate clues.

What if I Die With Untradeables?

Items from Diango will be returned to him, allowing you to reclaim them back after dying.

Otherwise other untradeable items such as: Chaotics, Fire cape and TokHaar Capes will be converted to coins.

Rules Associated With the Wilderness

Just because you're in the Wilderness, doesn't mean the standard rules no longer apply.

Everybody has bad days, but that's no reason to take it out on the person that PKed you in public chat, friends chat, or private messages.

Should a player PK flame in the friends chat, or through private messages - they will be subject to punishment at the discretion of the staff team.

If you are being flamed in private messages, send one of the staff members a full screenshot of the chat and we'll deal with it.

I highly recommend the Ignore list feature.

If you feel like anything should be changed or something else is within the scope of this guide and believe it should be added comment below or just send me a message over Forum DMs, In-game PMs or Discord DMs @Nhs#3227.

A lot of the details came from different RS3 wiki pages, I just added my own twist to things and made it all into one post.

This guide was not meant do be directed towards any specific players, but to give all players more in-depth knowledge about the Wilderness.

Okay, getting to the point where we need a G U I D E to explain how wilderness works, it's kind of funny...

Furthermore, excellent guide, simply covered all the necessary information about wilderness, in addition to making it clear that if you die to some pker, don't crying or starting to flame ppl in fc/private or devising info about someone just killed u there
